My name is Ivan Benavides, born October 6, 1987 in Harlingen, TX.
I have always been a creative person, since I was young I would be as artistic as I could. In first grade I had one of my drawing put into a 'Kid Museum' that displayed artwork from children of all ages. My mother still have that drawing framed and in her room. The way I would clear my mind was to draw, because when I would draw I would concentrate on the way my hand would move along the paper. I graduated from Los Fresnos High School in Los Fresnos, TX with the graduating class of 2006, I was done with high school by December 2005. I attended college at TSTC in Harlingen, TX, which Is were I found my love for Photography and Graphic design. I took classes in the Digital Media Design program at TSTC. I have skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Photography, Premier and Audition. I did not graduate from TSTC. I felt there was a lot more to learn and did not feel comfortable getting a degree with the education I had received. I am still looking for a college that fits what I am looking for. I am planing on talking courses in Photojournalism when I find a college that Is up to my standards. Till then, I take as many photo as I can. At the moment I work for my local newspaper, The Valley Morning Star. I started February 2009 as a 'web updater', I am now a copy editor/photographer. I do copy editing and graphics for Valley Morning Star and Photography for TheV247.com which is our papers entertainment website. I hope to one day be a photographer for a well know papper or company.
